Jones

Jones-Onslow Electric Membership Corporation (JOEMC) offers various billing and payment options for its members to make their electric bill payments convenient and stress-free. JOEMC is committed to providing safe, reliable, and affordable power to its members, and its billing and payment options are designed to make it easy for members to manage their electricity bills.

Understanding Your Bill

Before discussing the payment options, it’s essential to understand your bill. JOEMC’s monthly bill includes the following information:

  • Electric usage: The number of kilowatt-hours (kWh) used during the billing period.
  • Rate: The price per kWh for the electricity used.
  • Service charge: A fixed monthly charge that covers the cost of maintaining the overall electric system.
  • Facilities charge: A monthly investment that helps JOEMC cover the expenses of maintaining the electric system, including combatting cybersecurity threats and maintaining poles, wires, substations, and co-op equipment.
  • Total due: The total amount due for the current billing period.

Facilities Charges

As a member of JOEMC, you make an investment in your co-op every time you pay your bill. This collective investment in the co-op benefits you and the community immediately and over time. The facilities charge is a monthly investment that helps JOEMC cover the expenses of maintaining the overall electric system. Regardless of how much electricity a particular family uses, the cost of delivering power to that house, apartment, or modular home is the same. JOEMC believes that the operational costs should be spread fairly and equitably across all members, regardless of their level of electricity use. Therefore, every member pays the facility charge each month to cover basic operational costs, and the charge is the same amount since all members benefit from the same service.

Billing Options

JOEMC offers the following billing options for its members:

Monthly Billing

Each month, you will receive a detailed electric bill showing your meter readings, electric usage, and charges. The bill will also include a self-addressed return envelope for your convenience in returning your payment by mail. You can also choose to receive your monthly electric bill notification via email with JOEMC’s paperless billing option.

FlexPay

FlexPay allows you to pay for electricity on your schedule. You can choose to pay daily, weekly, or monthly, and you can make changes to your payment schedule as needed. This option gives you greater control and flexibility in managing your electricity bills.

Paperless Billing

If you check your email more often than regular mail, paperless billing is for you. With paperless billing, you will receive an email each month when your statement is available to view online at the JOEMC website. You can then log in to your online billing account to view and pay your bill.

Budget Billing

Budget billing guarantees that you pay the same predetermined amount each month. With this option, you can avoid large fluctuations in your electric bill. JOEMC will compare your actual electric use with the projected figures each month, and if there are any discrepancies, you will receive a refund check or be asked to pay the excess amount.

Group Billing

Group billing enables electric bills for members with multiple meters that are read on the same day each month to be sent to one mailing address. You will receive a summary statement that lists each electric account number, service address, and the individual amount of each electric account for that month. You can then remit payment on all of the included accounts using the summary coupon.
